The old people’s home ‘Grabovac’ in Risan has until recent been the sole institution in Montenegro to care for the elderly, bed-ridden, chronically ill and disabled persons. It has existed as a state institution in Risan as of 1947. Until 1st December 2010, when the Public Institution – Old People’s Home Bijelo Polje was opened, it had been the sole state-owned old people’s home in Montenegro. Today, it has 8000 m2 of useful area. The Home currently accommodates 317 beneficiaries of all categories, with the nursing staff of 103. The structure of the employed: besides one doctor, 37 nurses, 4 caregivers, 3 physiotherapists, 1 social worker, 1 psychologist, 2 occupational therapists, 1 afternoon shift coordinator, 1 graduated lawyer, 1 graduated economist, and there are also services of technical maintenance, kitchen, laundry, tailoring, hairdressing and other ancillary staff.
